50+ Italian Language Course

50+ Program

(20 Italian group lessons + cultural activities)

50 per sito

Course structure:

We understand that adult students have different needs, interests and rhythms compared to those younger than them.

To respond to their different needs, the 50+ program combines studying the Italian language in groups of a maximum of 10 students (minumum 3 to form a class) with some cultural activities which are dedicated to them.
The course takes place in class in the morning to study the language and three afternoons per week are reserved for museum visits, walks or tastings.

About the italian language and culture course for 50+ students:

Just like the other language courses, the morning is entirely dedicated to studying the Italian language. From 9:00 to 10:30 we study grammar. The linguistic structures are learned through texts and many practical examples in order so that the students can learn and understand their uses well. Having a maximum number of students per class (10) means that the teacher can attentively follow the progress of individuals and be accommodating to the pace of everyone.
After a short break, conversation class starts (from 11:00 to 12:30) when it is possible to communicate and put the linguistic structures learned into practice. The direct teaching method used by the ABC school encourages speakers of any language and age, even beginners, to speak Italian from the very first lesson.

Students are encouraged to communicate and express themselves using the linguistic knowledge learned and with each day they can notice real progress.

After morning lessons, students are free for lunch: very close to the school there are many small restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias and places where you can go for a quick pasta dish. Cheap but tasty.

The students on the 50+ course will find a teacher waiting for them at the school for their afternoon activities.

The program is organised by the school and can vary but it can include for example:
A tour of Florence to discover the most famous monuments in the city
A walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo and a visit of the San Miniato al Monte church
Visit to the Uffizi Gallery or the Accademia Gallery of Florence.
A walk of the Oltrarno district
A visit of the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral
A visit to the new Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (museum of the works of the Cathedral)
A visit to an artisan workshop
A walk in the historic centre discovering secrets and legends of Florence
An Italian history or culture seminar (music, cinema, art, traditions and much more)
Afternoon or evening with a cooking lesson and dinner together
Excursions to Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Arezzo or other Tuscan cities (with all the other students).

The museum visits and art history themed walks are taken by teachers who are also licensed tour guides and/or have a degree in art history.

Lesson times:

9:00 – 10:30 grammar lesson, every day from Monday to Friday
11:00 – 12:30 conversation lesson, every day from Monday to Friday

Afternoon: activities just for them

Changes to the timetable are possible during certain times of the year and/or for other reasons from the school but will be promptly communicated with the students.
