Who we are
Monica Fabianelli
Director
I was born in Genoa but grew up in Sestri Levante on the Ligurian coast until I moved to Florence for University.
I started to work at the ABC school in Florence in 1991 as a teacher but I also accompanied students on afternoon activities and the excursions. I was a good listener for their needs and their wants and after a few years I was given the responsibility to organise the extra-curricular activity program.
I am a translator and interpreter in English and German and I am a licensed tour guide for Florence and province.
The languages that I have studied as well as my practical and constructive nature have helped me to work at reception and I am now the director of the school.
I like to organise and resolve problems. Work for me is always a challenge and a search for new solutions which improve and enrich the stay of the students.
I also like to cook and I actually often cook with students at my house.
For years I have had the big dream of opening another ABC school and therefore when I was presented with the possibility to do so in 2015, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands! The new ABC school is located in Sestri Levante on the Bay of Silence where I went when I was little.
Now I can say that dreams do come true!
I can’t wait to see you in Tuscany and Liguria!

Brenda Bimbi
Despite my name, I am 100% Tuscan. I was born in Florence and I have always lived here. I started to work at the ABC school as a teacher of Italian language and art history in 2001 and a few years later I was put in charge of the activity program, communication and educational materials. Now you can find me at reception, in class, on walks or visiting museums: I am everywhere, in Italian we say just like parsley!
I have a degree in literature with a specialisation in art history and I am a licensed tour guide for Florence and province. Having the possibility to teach our students about the artistic treasures and traditions of my city is a great pleasure for me.
Im a yoga teacher and in my free time I go on walks, write stories for children and volunteer for the Italian Red Cross.
I can’t wait to see you in Florence!

Wally Oliviero
My name is a bit special; it is not Italian, it is the title of an opera, ‘La Wally’, in fact I come from a family of musicians.
I was born in Turin and raised in Florence. I worked for many years in an Italian school for foreigners where I taught the language and worked in the office as well, in which I took care of organising cultural activities and coordinating the work of the teachers.
Now, I form part of the staff at ABC School, you will find me in the secretary office to welcome you upon your arrival and I will always be ready to help you during your stay in Florence, but you can find me in class as well!
I live in the countryside, love nature and animals, I really like taking care of my garden and my vegetables! One of my big passions is cinema!
See you in Florence!
