Standard group course
(20 Italian language lessons per week)
Course structure:
The Standard Group Course at the ABC Italian language and culture school in Florence represents the base of almost all the Italian study courses. It normally takes place from Monday to Friday in the morning and includes 20 lessons per week. The classes have a maximum of 10 students (minimum 3)
Group classes are 45 minutes long
Lesson times:
Grammar: from 9:00 to 10:30;
Conversation: from 11:00 to 12:30
At certain times of the year or for certain reasons it is possible that lesson times could change, however students will be informed of these well in advance.
In the afternoon students are free to participate in the cultural activities organised by the school.
The school is closed on Saturday and Sunday however excursions to other Tuscan cities, visits to Florentine museums and walks take place on Saturday.
Course duration:
The Standard group course lasts for a minimum of one week and a maximum of one year.
Students can freely choose how many weeks they would like to attend Italian language lessons according to their needs or availability making it completely personal.

Elementary, intermediate and advanced students can start the course every Monday. We ask all non-beginner students who intend to enroll in the ABC school's group or combined Italian courses to take the online grammar test at least two weeks before arriving in Florence.
Complete beginners can start the course every second Monday, on these specific dates:

Hybrid Standard Group Course
From March 2021 we are able to offer our students the possibility to study Italian in group online from home.
With our Hybrid Standard Group Course you can enter our class in Florence even if you are in your Country. Some students are in class, other at home but everyone can speak together and with the teacher.
The classes have a maximum of 10 students (minimum 3).

Intensive group course
(30 group lessons per week)
Course structure:
The intensive course at the ABC school includes thirty 45-minute group lessons per week. The lessons take place in the morning and in the afternoon and have a maximum of 10 students per class (minimum 3 to form a class).
Grammar lessons take place in the morning (from 9:00 to 10:30) which prioritises linguistic structures. Conversation lessons also take place in the morning (from 11:00 to 12:30) during which students are guided by their teacher to actively practice what they have learned in grammar class.
Lessons start again after the lunch break in the early afternoon (from 13:15 to 14:45).
Based on previous knowledge, students continue to improve their Italian by deepening topics already studied in class, building their vocabulary, reading, listening and watching videos in an interesting mix of grammar and conversation activities which lead students to acquire deeper knowledge and confidence in their communication and interaction skills.

Courses for long periods
Course structure:
The Italian language is certainly charming. It has a complex structure and a very broad and varied vocabulary.
Learning to communicate correctly and in a proper way, whether it be orally or written, understanding all of the nuances may take a long time.
This is why the ABC school provides the possibility to attend a long and thorough course, appealing to those who have decided to settle in Italy or spend more than just a few weeks studying the language in order to reach C2 level.
About the course:
Our advice would be to attend a Standard group Course which takes place every day from Monday to Friday for a total of 20 Italian lessons per week. This represents a complete and intensive approach to the language.
The lessons take place in groups composed of a maximum of 10 students (minimum 3): this choice means that teachers can attentively follow the progress of individuals and improve and correct their Italian.
During grammar lessons we study linguistic structures necessary for communication which will be practiced during the conversation lessons.
The direct teaching method that we use means that everyone will start to express themselves in Italian from the very first lesson.
The integrative activity program organised by the school for the afternoons offers students a great opportunity to get to know Florence and the Italian and Florentine culture better from many different aspects.
For those who decide to attend the school for a long time, the Intensive course and combined courses are available too.

On the weekends the school is closed, however on Saturday we organise either activities in Florence or excursions outside of the city.
In the afternoon all students have the possibility to participate in the integrative activity program. Students are taken by the teachers from the school to get to know various aspects of the Italian culture better: from literature to history, music to cinema, traditions to curiosity and visiting Florence and its monuments.

Due to the recent spread of the Italian language in the world, the ABC school has offered scholarships to members of Italian Culture Institutes and departments of Italian Studies at Universities for years.
These students are able of take advantage of our courses at a special price. Requests must be made by the management of institutions or university teachers and do not cover the cost of accommodation.
